PT Semen Tonasa (“ST”) is member of Semen Gresik Group, located at Biringere, Pangkep, South Celebes. The Company owns 99,99% of the shares. ST has installed production capacity of 3,480,000 tons per annum and is a strategic cement producer to supply cement in the East Indonesian region. ST’s plant utilization in 2001 reached 86.9% of the installed production capacity. ST produces Portland Cement type I, II, V, Masonry Cement, and Fly Ash Cement.
The production capacity of 3,480,000 tons is produced from 3 (three) cement plants as follows:
• Tonasa II : 590.000 ton / annum
• Tonasa III : 590.000 ton / annum
• Tonasa IV : 2.300.000 ton / annum
ST’s market covers mainly Celebes, as well as Kalimantan , Nusa Tenggara, Bali, and other East Indonesian regions. ST also exports to several countries particularly Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia. To support its market, ST operates packing plants in its market region, namely: Ujung Pandang, Bitung Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Bali, Ambon and Palu.
ST obtained ISO 9002 certification that reflects international recognition of the Company’s quality management in 1996 and obtained an ISO 14001 on Environmental Management Systems certification from SGS Yarsley International Certification Services Limited in 2000.
